Fresh or Chilled Cucumbers and Gherkins

The US tariff schedule treats Persian cucumbers and long seedless (English-style) cucumbers as separate varieties within the December 1–end of February seasonal lines, each with distinct 10-digit codes for greenhouse organic, greenhouse non-organic, and other statuses. Persian cucumbers are shorter and thin-skinned; long seedless cucumbers are the standard English greenhouse type. Correct variety identification on entry documentation is necessary to avoid misclassification between these lines.

The US schedule applies different tariff lines — and potentially different duty rates — to cucumbers entered during the December 1 through end-of-February window compared to the rest of the year. This seasonal structure is designed to reflect periods of lower domestic US production.
