Sausages and similar products made from insects are explicitly included in heading 1601 following the 2022 HS update. They are subject to the same FSIS admissibility requirements as conventional meat sausages when imported into the US.

Heading 1601 covers goods that are recognizable as sausages or similar products — typically encased, emulsified, or formed in the traditional sausage manner. Heading 1602 captures other prepared or preserved meats that do not meet that definition, such as canned stews, pâtés not in sausage form, or cooked meat pieces in sauce.
