Heading 7 of 9 in chapter 05 · 1 product
Heading 0501 · $65K of $104.1M
Heading 0501 covers hair that is unworked — washed or scoured is permitted, but not cut to length, bleached, dyed, or otherwise prepared for a specific end use. Once hair is sorted, cut, or otherwise worked into a form ready for wig or extension manufacture, it typically moves to Chapter 67, which covers wigs, false beards, and similar articles.
Human hair itself does not trigger mandatory admissibility review by a specific agency in the way that food or live animals do, but importers should be prepared to document the supply chain, particularly given heightened scrutiny of goods from certain origins under forced-labor provisions. A licensed customs broker can advise on current enforcement priorities.
