Untrimmed (or mill-edge) coils have not had their lateral edges slit or trimmed after rolling, which affects dimensional tolerances and surface quality at the edges. Some downstream processors — particularly pipe mills — accept mill-edge coils, while others require trimmed edges. The distinction matters for classification because untrimmed coils have their own dedicated 10-digit line, and misclassifying a trimmed coil under that line (or vice versa) can trigger a CF-28 or penalty.

When antidumping or countervailing duty orders are in effect for a specific origin, importers must deposit estimated duties at the time of entry based on the applicable cash deposit rate for the exporter or country-wide rate. These rates are set by Commerce Department administrative reviews and can change annually; importers should verify the current deposit rate with a licensed customs broker before each shipment to avoid underpayment liability.
