Egyptian extra-long-staple (ELS) cotton varieties such as Giza 45 and Giza 87 produce fibers long enough to be spun reliably at counts above 52 Nm with high tensile strength and low hairiness. This staple-length advantage makes Egyptian-origin yarn in this range a recognized premium grade, often specified by name in fabric contracts for luxury bedding and shirting.

Yarn testing at or near 80 Nm may be reclassified into the over-80 Nm subheadings (520526 or 520525) if laboratory measurement differs from the declared count. Importers should obtain certified count test reports from an accredited laboratory and retain them with entry documentation. A one-count difference can shift the shipment to a different 10-digit line, so pre-shipment testing is a standard risk-mitigation step.
