Heading 4 of 9 in chapter 20 · 10 products
Heading 2005 · $175.0M of $1.3B
Canned chickpeas and lentils that have been cooked and packed in liquid classify under heading 2005 (specifically 200599 for mixed or NESOI vegetables), because the preparation process moves them out of the dried-legume headings. Dried, uncooked chickpeas and lentils remain in the pulses chapter regardless of packaging.
Importers of canned olives must file an FDA Prior Notice for food shipments and ensure the product comes from a facility registered with FDA. Country-of-origin labeling is required for retail sale. Olives from certain origins may also be subject to antidumping or countervailing duty orders, so checking the applicable AD/CVD scope is an important pre-import step.
