Mustard Seeds

Canada's Prairie provinces — particularly Saskatchewan — account for a large share of global mustard seed production, benefiting from ideal growing conditions, established export infrastructure, and geographic proximity to US buyers. Canada's position as a leading supplier also reflects longstanding trade relationships in the North American agricultural sector.

Mustard is not currently designated as a major food allergen under US FDA regulations, unlike in the EU and Canada where it is a declared allergen. However, importers supplying mustard seed to manufacturers exporting to those markets should ensure their documentation supports allergen traceability requirements in the destination country.
