Babassu oil remains a niche import compared to palm kernel oil, primarily sourced from Brazil and used in specialty cosmetics, hair care, and natural food products. Its supply is constrained by the artisanal nature of babassu nut harvesting. Importers should confirm botanical origin and extraction method on supplier documentation, as the two oils — while classified together — may have different market values and end-use specifications.
