While CBP does not routinely require DOE certification documents at the port of entry, importers should maintain on file the DOE certification report, test data, and the model's listing in the CCMS database. DOE and FTC can conduct post-market surveillance, and failure to produce compliance records on request can result in enforcement action. Including the certified model number on commercial invoices also helps avoid classification disputes.
