Both lines cover round wire under 1.6 mm with less than 0.20% carbon, but 7229200010 is specifically for copper-plated wire, while 7229200015 covers arc-welding wire that is not copper-plated. The copper plating improves electrical conductivity and feedability in MIG welding torches; the presence or absence of that coating, confirmed by the product specification sheet or mill certificate, determines which line applies.

The US has maintained antidumping and countervailing duty orders on steel wire products from various countries, and Vietnam has been subject to orders on certain steel wire categories. Importers should check the current scope of any active orders with CBP and the Department of Commerce, as scope language for alloy wire grades can be technically specific and may or may not capture silico-manganese compositions.
