Pink salmon return to spawn on a strict two-year cycle, with even years typically producing significantly larger runs in many regions. This biological pattern creates predictable but substantial year-to-year swings in frozen supply availability and price. Importers and processors often adjust contract volumes and storage strategies in anticipation of the alternating cycle.

Importers should check current CBP and USTR guidance for any applicable antidumping, countervailing duty, or Section 301 orders that may apply to the specific origin of the shipment. A licensed customs broker can assist with an AD/CVD scope review prior to importation.
