FDA's admissibility review focuses primarily on the manufacturing facility's cGMP compliance and registration status rather than the specific antibiotic class. However, certain classes with known supply-chain vulnerabilities — such as those with heavy API sourcing from a small number of foreign facilities — may receive heightened scrutiny. Importers should maintain current facility audit records and FDA registration confirmations regardless of antibiotic class.

Standard documentation includes a commercial invoice identifying the product by INN (international nonproprietary name) and concentration, a certificate of analysis from the manufacturer, FDA establishment registration numbers for both the manufacturer and importer, and any applicable drug master file (DMF) references. For finished drug products, evidence of an approved NDA or ANDA — or an exemption — should also be available. Consulting a licensed customs broker with pharmaceutical experience is recommended given the complexity of FDA entry review.
