Search for a product to map its supply chain
Census publishes U.S. imports of each product three ways: by country of origin, by port of entry and by state of destination. Each is a separate ranking: they are not cross-tabulated, so they cannot say which origin supplied which port or state. For passenger cars, for example, Baltimore can be the top port while California is the top state. State figures use the destination reported on the import entry, which can be a distribution point rather than where the goods are finally used.
Search for any HS6 product and see the countries it is imported from, the ports where it enters and the states it is headed for, each ranked by value for the latest month. The three lists come from separate Census Bureau tabulations and are not linked to one another.
This tool combines data from three Census Bureau endpoints: imports by HS code (country origin), imports by state and HS code (destination state), and imports by port and HS code (port of entry).
