Silver-clad composites are typically valued on transaction value of the entire article, but the silver content may also be relevant for statistical reporting and, in some cases, for determining whether the good is more appropriately classified as a precious metal article. Importers should ensure commercial invoices clearly state the silver content by weight or percentage and the base metal substrate to avoid valuation disputes.

Once the clad material is cut, stamped, or otherwise fabricated into a finished component — such as an electrical contact, connector pin, or brazing ring — it typically moves to a more specific finished-article heading. The 'not further worked than semimanufactured' condition is the key boundary: strip or rod in coil form generally qualifies, while punched or formed parts generally do not.
