Canola and rapeseed meal are hygroscopic and prone to caking and heating in high-moisture conditions. Bulk shipments should be loaded at moisture levels below 12% to minimize microbial activity and self-heating during transit. Shippers and receivers should agree on moisture testing methodology (e.g., oven-dry vs. near-infrared) in the contract, as measurement method differences can create disputes when moisture is near the contractual limit.
