Epoxide Resins, Primary Forms

Both liquid and solid (flake or powder) epoxy resins in primary forms fall under the epoxide resin heading, but at the HTS level they may be assigned to different subheadings based on physical state or epoxide equivalent weight. Importers should specify the physical form and EEW range on the commercial invoice to facilitate accurate classification.

BPA-based epoxy resins imported as industrial raw materials do not currently trigger mandatory admissibility review at the US border, but downstream customers — particularly in food-contact packaging and consumer goods — may impose BPA-free specifications. Importers should be prepared to provide safety data sheets and, where required, food-contact compliance documentation for the cured resin system.
