Catalysts & Catalytic Preparations (NES)

Enzyme preparations used primarily for their catalytic function in industrial chemical synthesis — rather than as food additives or pharmaceutical ingredients — may fall under this heading, but the classification is fact-specific. If the enzyme is the primary active ingredient and the preparation is designed for a catalytic industrial process, this heading is a candidate; however, enzyme preparations with food or pharmaceutical end uses are typically classified elsewhere.

Under TSCA Section 13, importers must certify that chemical substances either comply with TSCA or are not subject to it. Novel organometallic catalyst compounds not listed on the TSCA Chemical Substance Inventory may require a Pre-Manufacture Notice (PMN) or Low Volume Exemption filing before import. Importers should confirm inventory status with their regulatory counsel prior to the first commercial shipment.
