Vietnam processes raw cashew nuts sourced largely from West Africa and re-exports finished kernels globally, including to the US. This means US importers are exposed to supply disruptions at multiple points—African harvest conditions, Vietnamese processing capacity, and shipping logistics. Concentration of processing in a single country also creates regulatory risk if FDA identifies systemic food-safety issues with a major supplier.
