Aluminum extrusion orders cover extruded aluminum profiles, but complete window or door assemblies may be classified as finished goods rather than extrusions. However, CBP and Commerce have scrutinized whether assemblies are sufficiently complete to escape extrusion-order scope, so importers should obtain a scope ruling or legal opinion before assuming a finished-assembly classification is safe.

US buyers and building inspectors commonly require compliance documentation referencing AAMA, NFRC, or ASTM standards for thermal performance, air infiltration, water resistance, and structural load ratings. Importers should confirm that foreign manufacturers can provide certified test reports to these standards, as non-compliant products may be rejected at the project level even after clearing customs.
