Importers must implement an FSVP that includes verification of the foreign supplier's food safety practices, which may involve supplier audits, review of food safety certifications, or testing records. For frozen vegetables processed under FDA's low-acid canned food regulations (if thermally processed), foreign facility registration is also required. Prior notice to FDA must be filed before each shipment arrives at a US port.
