Portland cement dominates by volume and is used in general construction concrete. Aluminous (high-alumina) cement is used in refractory and high-temperature applications. Slag and pozzolanic cements are valued for their lower heat of hydration and durability in marine or sulfate-exposed environments. Each type may fall under a distinct HTS subheading.

Bulk cement requires pneumatic or mechanical unloading equipment at the receiving terminal, specialized bulk carriers or self-unloading vessels, and covered storage silos to prevent moisture absorption. Importers without dedicated terminal access typically work through third-party cement terminals, which can affect landed cost and delivery flexibility.
