Heading 6005 is limited to warp knit fabrics (including galloon-machine fabrics) not covered by 6001–6004. Heading 6006 captures all other knitted or crocheted fabrics not classifiable under 6001–6005 — typically weft-knit or crocheted constructions in fiber types not addressed by the earlier headings. When the knitting direction or construction method is unclear, a binding ruling from CBP can resolve the classification.

For each fiber group, the heading breaks into four finishing states: unbleached or bleached, dyed, made from yarns of different colors (yarn-dyed), and printed. The fabric's condition at the time of importation — not its intended downstream use — determines which subheading applies, so importers should document the finishing state with mill certifications or lab reports.
