Live Chickens, Not More Than 185 Grams, Breeding Stock, Layer-Type (Egg-Type)

Layer-type breeding stock (egg-type) are birds from genetic lines specifically selected for high egg production efficiency. At the HS10 level, US Customs distinguishes these from broiler-type breeding stock (0105110020) and non-breeding stock chicks (0105110040), as each category may have different duty rates and regulatory requirements.

Importers must obtain a VS Form 17-129 import permit from USDA APHIS prior to shipment. The exporting flock must be certified free of Marek's disease, avian influenza, Newcastle disease, and other specified pathogens, and birds may be subject to post-arrival quarantine and testing.
